Individual work is a good introduction to therapy.  It is often challenging to be a healthy member of any relationship if an individual is not socially, emotionally and mentally healthy.  Individual growth reduces the potential to be attracted to the dysfunction of unhealthy relationships and at a minimum, better prepares individuals to address problems that arise in relationships.

Establishing boundaries

Couples therapy is beneficial when two people are struggling with  issues that impede their ability to move forward together in a relationship. Problems may present in the form of communication, inability to problem solve, parenting conflicts, financial stress, spiritual disconnection and or sexual problems.  Premarital is encouraged to address differences that may impact marriage at a later date.

Because families are made up of multiple generations of individuals, the problems can be more complicated.  Addressing the needs of the individuals and understanding the impact of each individual on the family unit may be more challenging.  Setting limits and boundaries, accepting differences and working through expectations can create healthy living environments for families. The group process should be a safe therapeutic environment for both related and unrelated individuals to find a common ground of support, empowerment and growth
